Meet Steve Herschbach Grand Rapids Bass Fishing

Pro fishermen Steve Herschbach grew up in a family of outdoorsmen. Not everyone can be as fortunate to have a father that has been fishing bass tournaments and guiding for the last 26 years. Steve's father Tim enjoys a reputation as one of the best bass fishing anglers of northern Minnesota.

It was just a matter of time before Steve followed in Tim's footsteps and became a guide and tournament angler. With much success fishing in the C.A.T.T. tournament series in 2005 with his father in the front of the boat. They would go on to win the northern Minnesota division to advance to the national qualifiers tournament in Michigan on Muskegon Lake. And 2006 Fishing in team and individual competition in the “Basswacker Tackle and Bens Bait tournament series”. He would finish the year with 5th overall in team and 2nd overall in individual competition.

Growing up in a family that spent a great deal of time on the water and in the woods. Where the Herschbach family reunion was basically opening of walleye fishing weekend. Most everything I learned about fishing and the outdoors came from my dad Tim Herschbach owner of Basswacker Tackle. I loved to fish all species of fish growing up, but I had a strong passion for bass fishing and now I have specialized in it and made it into a second career. There are so many thing I love about the sport that keep me doing it day after day. I’m a competitor and I love to fish. I feel Minnesota hasn’t tapped open the bass angling of the thousands of lake that we have to offer. And that is what I want to do! Show people why this is America’s most sought after game fish.

I fish from a Rajun Cajun bass boat that is dark teal green, and white. With a 150horse Suzuki V6.

I have had the chance to take many people fishing who have never fished bass ever. And they have caught fish and learned some things about proper equipment and baits. I have had a lot of fun doing this because people get the opportunity to do something that they never thought they could do. And they have found out that they really enjoyed fishing bass.
